The parish of Bredgar, in the district of the Borough of Swale, lies on the north slope of the North Kent Downs, within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, between the villages of Tunstall and Hollingbourne. The nearest town is Sittingbourne, which is the location of the main office of Swale Borough Council.
Bredgar Parish Council represent around 620 parishioners, reviewing planning applications, overseeing some local services and managing village matters. The Parish Council usually meets four times a year in the village school. Members of the public are welcome to attend and there is usually an open session for parishioners to give their points of view on items on the agenda. Meetings dates are published on the village noticeboards, agendas and meeting minutes are available on our website under the Documents pages. Bredgar Parish Council work closely with our Principal Authority - Swale Borough Council.
The parish is fortunate to have an active church, a successful school, pub, garage, farm shop, cafe and post office all located within the village. The parish is home to a number of historical buildings and the centre village conservation area is marked with a war memorial and a picturesque duck pond.
There are a number of thriving organisations making full use of the village hall and on many weekend afternoons a village team plays a traditional game of cricket on the recreation ground.
