Bredgar Traffic Petition and Speedwatch Update
Bredgar Parish Council
In August we reported that Bredgar parishioners were increasingly expressing their concerns about the safety of residents due to the speed of traffic through the village.
Since then 160 residents and regular visitors to Bredgar have signed the petition to formalise their concern and persuade KCC that action to address the problem is urgently required. This is a lot of signatures for our small village and demonstrates the deep concern. Not suprisingly the majority of residents' signatures came from those living along Primrose Lane, The Street and Swanton Street. For more details on the risks identified see the August News item.
Next, our KCC councillor Mike Baldock and representatives from the Parish Council are going to present the petition to the full County Council meeting on 8th December at County Hall.
Many parishioners have been keen to support our new Speedwatch, for which, we have twelve volunteers of whom half are already trained and active. One Speedwatch held from 7:30am to 9:00am on a Friday morning confirmed the seriousness of the speed problems. During the period, 27 cars were found to have exceeded the 30mph limit.
